We are over 2 weeks into 2026. Do you have items on your to do list from last week or even last year? 🙋🏾♀️
Why do we procrastinate?
There are many reasons, but here are a few that I’ve been guilty of:
· Fear of rejection
· Fear of failure
· Fear of success
· Fear of the unknown
· Perfectionism
· Embarrassment
· Anxiety
· Overwhelm
Overcoming Procrastination
No matter why you procrastinate, take a deep breath and give yourself some grace. Whew! Here are some strategies that I use to keep moving forward, and no I did not come up with these.
Eat the Frog
Do the hard and important thing first. It might not be fun or glamorous, but this is the item that you MUST get done. Do it first when your energy is high and your mind is clear.
Pare down your list
Being a mom, a business owner, and a surgeon ensures that my to do list is a mile long. To avoid succumbing to overwhelm, pick the 3 things that will move the needle on your big audacious goal. Do this the day before, so you are not trying to figure out “what’s next?” in the morning.
Time Block
How many time do you look up from a pile of papers only to ask yourself where has the time gone? We must master our time. I do this by time blocking my day. The day can always change, but taking a few minutes to strategize at the end of the day makes a world of difference in getting the big 3 done the following day.
You may just need to do less.
Sometimes we all commit to doing too much. I am guilty of it. I am actively learning what to delegate or let go of all together.
I want to hear from you!
What are you putting off personally or professionally? How do you beat the procrastination monster? Let me know below.
You got this!
