We are over a week into 2026.  How are you doing?

The world is on fire. Many of us are compartmentalizing to keep our sanity.  We are powering through painful headlines, hectic days, and long anxious nights to care for our families, our businesses, and ourselves.

Even amidst all of this, I urge you to pause.

We all have a to do list that is a mile long, but I need you take inventory of where you are now BEFORE jumping straight into the grind.

What’s your baseline?

If you don’t know where you are starting from, how do you get to the finish line? It’s like beginning a weight loss challenge without getting on the scale BEFORE you start your exercise the program.

My Story

In October of 2022, I changed the way I looked at my business. I had just completed my MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business and was a few weeks into the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women Black in Business Program. I began reviewing my profit and loss statement weekly used.  I saw where I was spending money AND what was making money.   I used that as a basis of building my budget for the next fiscal year.  Fast forword 3 years, revenue has more than doubled, and profits have grown 7 fold!

My Challenge to You

Take inventory of where you are spending your time.  Does it align with your goals for this year?  In The 12 Week Year and Rewrite Your Rules, the authors break down the importance of finding out where your base line is for health, finances and more.
