Being Intentional in 2026

In the last few days of 2025, I have been consumed with planning for 2026. Reviewing calendars. Analyzing budgets. Listing goals.

I enjoyed a wonderful break with my husband and son over the holidays which filled me joy and peace, restored by exhausted mind and body, and reenergized me for the New Year. In between the cross country plane and car rides of our journey, I listened to the audio book for The 12 Week Year.
In the final hours of 2025, I find myself coming back to this quote from the book.
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then is not an act but a habit.” Aristotle
I have audacious goals for 2026 that are catapulting me out of my comfort zone. A key step towards achieving these audacious goals is building the habits that make excellence second nature. An even bigger part for me is being more intentional with my time, talents, and treasure.
I want to be intentional in building the structure that allows me to live a value aligned life that supports my larger purpose personally and professionally.
I want to be more intentional about building and maintaining relationships with others. I want to be present in the moment and fulfill the commitments I make. I will be delegating and declining more often. I want to immerse myself in the people and situations in front of me whether it is talking with my son as we start our day or engaging with other surgeons during conferences. I want intentionality to permeate every interaction.
